How to preserve food in a survival scenario

In a long-term emergency, drying food is the best method to preserve it. Drying foods makes them last for longer and removes moisture. It also reduces bacteria growth.

Because they don't need to be prepared, dried fruits are ideal for snacking during emergencies. They're easy to carry around, and you can eat as much as you want without worrying about weight gain.

While you can dry fruit at your home using a dehydrator and a sun oven, it's much more convenient to do so in a commercial setting. You could use a solar oven to dry all sorts of foods, including meat, fish, vegetables, and grains.
