Camping Ground Fees, Campsite Prices

Although the National Park Service (NPS), is exploring the possibility of charging overnight campers for their services, it was not certain if this would be feasible. Luis A. Gastellum contacted George B. Hartzog Jr. the NPCS administrator with concerns over the proposed fee program on September 26, 1969. He urged the agency not to abandon the idea in his letter. The debate ended in March 1970 when Congress issued a directive to implement fees.

Private campgrounds don't get tax dollars, so they charge visitors' fees. The fee covers the costs of visiting visitors and is therefore necessary. Most campgrounds agree that visitors should be charged for the services they receive. Be prepared to pay more if your campground is popular. Sometimes you may be able negotiate a lower rate but expect to pay more.

Some campgrounds offer senior citizens free camping, but they must follow all government regulations. Senior citizens are allowed to camp with four spouses or four children. However there are restrictions on group picnics, backcountry, marine fees and day use fees. In addition, a second vehicle must be parked at the same site and pay half of the fee. Additional vehicles must also have valid park tags. For a week, a resident will pay more to park in a state-owned park.

If you can't afford to pay more for an RV park, consider staying at a campground without the luxury of resort amenities. Smaller RV parks are often cheaper and offer more amenities than larger RV parks. Although the prices will be lower, you'll still have a place to park your RV. If you're willing to sacrifice certain amenities, this can be a great option for you. You might even be able to save money by not paying extra for amenities.

The price of a camping pitch includes two people, a car, and a unit. A tarp is not required, but some campsites require it. Glimmerglass allows six adults to use its site, and nine children. Site #165 is for two adults and five children. To avoid additional fees or charges, a cabin usually costs more. However, you should check with the campground before booking.

There are many factors that affect the cost of camping. At popular campgrounds, campsites will assign each camper a specific space. At these sites, the rates are generally fifteen to thirty dollars per night. High season may mean that groups might need to be divided. If a group cancels, the cancellation fee will be determined by the number of participants. Before you arrive at the park, make sure to read all the regulations.
